SO VERY SMALL
Today is Sunday. We went to a service at Ft Hays this morning. It was different from what we are used to, but church never-the-less. After that we went to the commissary on the Air Force base and stocked up on vittles and stuff. We went for a drive in the afternoon.
“You are so very small” were the words in the video documenting the BAD LANDS and some of its history. We have lived in BIG, FLAT TEXAS and seen the immenseness of Alaska, but the plains are truly ENORMOUS!! As we drove the loop road around and through the Bad Lands, we had grand views over the landscape which stretched out before us.
We drove from west to east on the road, and the bright shinny sun was behind us. With absolutely nothing to hinder our vision, we could see from horizon to horizon. The land seemed to have no end. The views from the overlooks were spectacular. The colors were brightened by the sun and the earth just seemed to glow. GOD’S GLORY WAS TRULY ON DISPLAY!!
Like most of the reports in all other National Park Visitor Centors, the video here contained all of the evolutionary explanations about how the land was formed a quad-zillion years ago, how perfect it was in Indian times, and how it would disappear if we didn’t change the dastardly ways of modern man. The Creator is never mentioned.
Judy has some pictures up about the drive through the Bad Lands so if you have time, follow the link to get a sample of the drive. As a side note we went to WALLS DRUG STORE for chapstick and ice cream. It’s a huge tourist trap along the interstate which has been in business since 1931. Supposedly it has signs in every state and some foreign countries.
Thanks for your time and have a great day. Tomorrow is another day.
