Being Hands and Feet

Well, week one is on the books

It has been an interesting first week of this new adventure of ours

We get up around 0530, dress, eat some breakfast, have a cup of joe, and head down the road
The James Cancer Center is about a 40 minute drive for us down I71.  Treatment time is 0800 but we leave the house by 0630 to beat the traffic.  I would much rather be setting there waiting for the radiation tech than setting in traffic and then trying to get worked into the schedule.

So far, all is good.  Dave started his chemo pills on Sunday evening and will continue them every evening until OCT 9th.   The radiation only lasts for 20 minutes total from when they call him back to the room until he is back out.  Actual shooting time is less than 5 minutes he says.  The radiation mask leaves goofy marks on his forehead but that means it is on tight and in place.   So far the only thing we have had problems with is on Wednesday he was extremely tired but we think this came partly from allergies acting up and starting the antibiotic, Bactrim, for preventive things.  On Wednesday it was extremely foggy here in Columbus, OH aria and so that made fr a tiring drive down and back and on Tuesday we had had various doctors appointments.

SO, all in all, this first week has been good  God is so good and has been so gracious to us.  It is humbling to see and chat with some of the folks we encounter each morning as we enter the clinic.  Hearing their stories is interesting and then we get to share parts of ours

This home we are staying in has been such a GOD SEND.  It is amazing how GOD knew this was going to take place when he placed Cyndi in our lives years ago,  For those who do not know, Cyndi is our daughter-in-law and we have been welcomed into her Aunt and Uncle's extra addition for this adventure.  There are not words to thank them.

Continue to pray for ease of treatment and ease of driving in this city traffic.  It has been a bit since I have done this.  Also,  our pastor;'s brother-in-law has had a double lung transplant at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St Louis, MO.  There are many others for the folks we meet daily.

Thanks again for your continues prayers. We feel them and know that it is only through HIS wonderful grace we are here to testify of this today.

Until next Friday.   This was our view on Wednesday morning.
