WOW It's been 3 weeks since this surgery and it's most interesting.
I had my first PT session on Tuesday and was told I was using my walker INCORRECTLY. I have been putting my heel down after the ball of my left foot WRONG ONLY the ball and toes of my left foot should touch the floor. UGH I didn't realize how much your pelvis really does. All of the above waist weight is resting on it and the down below limbs more because of how it works. We sure are wonderfully made and all parts work together.
I will have PT strengthening stretches 1 times per week for 2 more weeks then I will start pool therapy after I have my 6 week check-up from the neurosurgeon. The rehab for this surgery is lllooonnnggg. I guess I didn't realize just how long it could take, possibly 4 months for full functioning. I should be able to drive after my 6 week check-up. I'm really praying for this I told my daughjter-in-law the other day when asked how I was doing that if I had a hammer and box of nails I would be able to make a room of furniture and by the time I'm completed PT perhaps a house full. So, how bored (board) am I? That gives you the answer.
I'm thankful for friends who have checked on me and a daughter who has been really diligent on checking on me prior to leaving for work each morning at 0700 and returning around 1700. I've learned to use my gripper as it's called to complete many tasks besides putting my left leg into my clothing.
Again, thanks for reading and please continue to pray that I'll be able to withstand this time of rest and recoup. Those who know me know I tend to be type A and am a daily walker, I use it as my sanity, and that has been taken from me. As my friend would say It's only temporary, right Sal.
Again thanks again. I'll update again after therapy next week and see how much progress I've made.
