Keeping Cool
Well, the temp has been about 32C (that is close to 90F). That doesn't sound too bad you say, but factor in the 70% humidity and you got it South Texas IS other places. Those of you who live there or have visited in the mid summer understand what I mean. Because of this we opted to be able to sleep like it was winter and purchased an a/c unit for our bedroom. The units here hang on the walls in rooms unless you get a large freestanding unit. They aren't that expensive the one for the bedroom was about 330US thanks to those who assisted in the purchase of this, it was well worth the price to be able to sleep. Compressors for a/c units here hang on the outside of the buildings, we don't have central air. We have posted pictures on our site showing the installation of the bedroom unit. That has gone well, but on Monday we decided that it was just TOO hot (getting old is horrible) so we bit the bullet and purchased a free standing unit for the main living room. The cost started at close to 1000US but ended up around 800US. This one stands on the floor but the compressor MUST hang on the outside of the building, remember we are on the 6th floor of an apartment building. We have posted pictures of this unit being installed also. Notice the ropes!!!! What ropes you say? Exactly!!! Did I mention we are on the 6th floor??? You get my point. Please enjoy the photos.
