Well, we survived day 2. Today's journey started out with a trip to the Vatican and Sistine Chapel. We had reservations made for 9AM which meant we had to head out sort of early to catch the Metro over the river and to the proper area of town. We purchased tickets in order to avoid standing in a long line to purchase tickets. We then proceeded inside and because we had a nice child stroller we were escorted to the lift (elevator) and up to the start of the tours. We walked through halls and halls and halls of beautiful ceiling paintings and carvings, statues on both sides of the wall and mosaics on the floor. We finally made it to the Sistine Chapel and the famous ceiling. We won't post pictures of this because there are none allowed. There are actually guards all around the room and if they catch someone holding up a camera they shine a laser pen on them and shout "NO CAMERA PHOTOGRAPHS" After this long tour of things we proceeded outside to a great area for a picnic lunch (we brought bread, cheese, fruit and trail mix most every day to have for lunch). After this we proceeded out of the Vatican and down the sidewalk around the street and to the area in front of St Peter's Basilica. We were told at the bottom of the last stairway that no strollers were allowed so I stayed out with Lydia as she had just gone to sleep. After the time looking in here, we walked across the river to the castle and then across the river again and on towards our room. We have done a good bit of walking, knew I was practicing all of that walking at home for some reason. We had some pizza along the way and planned our day 3. More to come later
