Thought I would post about our time since returning to the US.
We arrived in DFW on a Tuesday morning and collected our bags and headed to a friends home to spend a few days. We needed to find a way to communicate with folks. Headed to a shopping center called the Mills, great place. We had brought a phone from China with us and hoped to purchase a SIM card from AT&T for this. Well, the phone was on a different band width so a no go. We purchased a GO PHONE and $60 for one month of unlimited talk and text. Now, to find a real cell phone carrier. In China we spent about $10 every other month for cell service and used it ANYTIME we wanted. The next stage was a trip to COS (Colorado Springs) to visit Melanie and John. Dave made it through security and we arrived on our first non-rev flight with no problems. Had a super visit with them. About froze to death since we are now warm weather folks. Saw snow on Pikes Peak and enjoyed the visit. Headed back to DFW and to our friends home again (Thanks Emile) Visited Dave's aunt who lives near DFW with her son and daughter-in-law. Gert is 100 years old and still doing well. The next chapter was heading to Beeville, a small town in south TX where we were when Dave was in the Navy. Great folks there and where we learned about "WORK" Had not been there for 25 years but it was truly like coming home. Lots of the people we knew there were military and are not there now but were able to catch up with those who were. Left Beeville on Sunday afternoon and headed to SAT (San Antonio) to spend the night. Were planning to be on a 6AM flight to DFW Monday morning. Got up and checked-in at 2AM and I, Judy, was basically up for the remainder of the day. Arrived at the airport and at 0545 were given a boarding pass to then 5 minutes later be told there is a mechanical problem with the plane. Needed to bring to part form DFW to SAT to repair. This was a full flight so they did not want to cancel it too soon. Ended up we needed to have 2 parts brought down and finally at 1500 they cnxed the flight. We had been told all day that they were working on the problem and would be ready to board anytime. Finally got on a plane (the last two seats) at 1545 and headed to DFW to meet my brother and collect our 8 bags from our friend's garage. We were road weary and worn out. WELL, as we arrived to collect our bags one of my brothers kept calling and so we finally answered the phone. He told us about loads of tornadoes in OKC. My brother's boss also called him several times to make sure where he was as there had been terrible storms in OKC. HE IS GOOD. Had we arrived on our original flight and headed to Cabelas as planned we would have been on the road and possible in OKC already at 1600 the time the storms went through. We also de3cided to stop and eat before heading up the road. When we got heading up the road we saw two 18 wheelers turned over and we would have been right there. I knew a song once that says "What we see as evil, bad, not good God means for good. We never know.
