BEWARE THE OF THE IDES OF MARCH
The month of February and half of March has come and gone. Right now, we are in Clarksville, TN looking around at the area with the possibility of someday settling here to live. It’s a nice area with 4 seasons, trees, and grass.
Our time in Leesville, LA with Melanie and her family was really nice. We got to see them and be grandparents again. It was a relaxing time and very restful. We also got to visit the military post there and do a little shopping in the base exchange and commissary. Kyla is a neat little girl, and with her big blue eyes, she can just about talk Papa and Baka into anything. We were there for 6 weeks and left March 7 heading to TN. During that time, we made one side trip to Beaumont, TX to visit one of our friends from Richmond, VA who had moved down there to be with her family.
On our way from LA to TN, we stopped twice to visit friends. Our first stop was in Meridian, MS to visit old Navy friends from Beeville, TX. They treated us so graciously and even included us in a special Bible study with their friends. They know how to eat too. Meridian was also the place where I went to part of my Navy flight training. We saw our old apartment and the base where I flew T-2 Buckeye jets in basic jet training 42 years ago. We were amazed that the old apartment didn’t look in too bad of shape. Pretty good on the outside, but I’m sure that the inside walls were still paper thin between units.
The second stop was to visit dear Hermann, MO friends and neighbors who now live in Guntersville, AL. We parked our camper in their circular driveway and only made a few DEEP ruts in their yard. We slept in a real big bedroom and took showers with lots and lots of water pressure. Granny-Across-the-Road fed us with so many WV yummies that I gained 3 pounds in the same number of days and cobbler with milk if we so chose. We topped the weekend off with some really delicious biscuits and creamed tomatoes for breakfast before we left on Monday morning. It was a glorious time of feasting and enjoying fellowship. While there, we also gave a presentation about our time spent on the field to the members of their church. They received us readily and were very welcoming. We felt like family with them.
Everything is still going well with the truck and camper. We had a little tail wind coming up the interstate so our fuel mileage hit a whopping 12.5 mpg.
It is hard to believe how quickly time has gone by. One year ago today, March 15, I, Judy, was having my neck surgery. I still don’t have full range of motion and the part under my chin is still numb, but I know that is it better than what I would have been dealing with. Learning to live with a piece of metal in your neck is different but possible with HIS help.
Thanks for all the yarps for us as we travel and seek HIM in where HE wants us to serve next.
