Being Hands and Feet

It's been a few days since I wrote but wanted to wait until the completion of today's appointments.

We had a CT at 0830, blood work at 0915, oncology appt at 1000 and the infusion of Keytruda at 1130.   The CT showed no new swelling, however there is still some remaining.   Not sure if this is from the radiation as it remains in the system, area, for at least 6 months.   Since we travel a distance to the James they arranged for the infusion of Keytruda, which is usually not used for brain cancer but responds to some of the tumor markers.  After you arrive at the chemo area they then get your medication prepared which takes about 1 hour.  The IV is set up and checked by 2 nurses to verify.  The actual infusion only takes 30 minutes but is then has the iv flushed for 15 minutes.

This drug has worked in many areas, Jimmy Carter had it years ago on a trail basis.   We will return in 3 weeks for more blood work, oncology visit and infusion.  CTs only happen every 6 weeks with this medication so that is scheduled for 22 Jan.  Side effects are fatigue, more like really tired, rashes, nausea and/or some other light things.     They have not had many problems with those who have taken this medicaiton.

The trip up and back was uneventful.   Noises and too many items to select from are most confusing for Dave right now.   The simpler the better.   We were fortunate to meet up with our previous nurses from radiology and oncology while in the chemo area. They were both there working today and that was great to see Rachel and Michelle.
Pray that there are no real problems with this medication and the swelling will continue to shrink.  Also, Dave's brother has had a minor surgery on his eye which has been bothering him for quite a bit.  I have a brother who is going through some health issues also.

Wishing all of you a very MERRY CHRISTMAS celebrating the birth of our savior Jesus Christ.
Spread the good news, Jesus is born.
