We traveled today to Columbus, AGAIN!!! Thankful that God held off the rain this morning and this afternoon for us. ALSO, I had absolutely NO TRAFFIC BACKUP at the 71/70 mix up and on till we got off on 315 Know this means nothing t anyone except those who travel this road, but it was a big deal. We made it there in 2 hours 27 minutes. WOW!!!
Had the CT done first thing and even with being early, they took us as we arrived, FI/FO sort of thing. I checked with the Oncology folks but the doctor was back logged so we could not change our appointment time. Went over to the Brain and Spine and had blood draw done. Then had lunch at Wendy's just down the hall Went back and saw the doctor He was impressed said the swelling was decreasing. This is what the Avastin is supposed to do, allow you to live a better quality of life. We will be getting this every 2 weeks as previously told. BUT We are able to get the infusions at Marietta Memorial Strecker Cancer Center which is just across the river. The trip to Columbus will take place only every 8 weeks, next appointment is 8 July. Will call tomorrow and set up the infusion dates and times. Decadron steroid is being still tapered down should be completely off of this drug by 28 May.
We then went up to get the infusion and had a very pleasant time with a nurse who is from Marietta and had great things to say about the oncology doctor in Marietta. ALSO, we had a short but sweet visit from our radiation friend, Jaimee. She is a sweet young lady who is being treated for a different type of cancer but still has had a rough go recently. Remember her when you are praying for us. There are many folks who are suffering from this disease just in a different location on their body.
There are many different things that folks suffer from The photo above is from a 5K walk I did this week end here in our town in memory of a young soldier who committed suicide a couple of years ago. Lots of things to take to Father. THANKS FAMILY AND FRIENDS!!
