WOW difficult to believe this was 10 years ago. Did we believe this is where we would be now?
NOPE!
It's been a very interesting week. Dave had his treatment on 14 May and I posted afterwards. WELL, on that Friday he became most tired, unsteady had to call the great folks at CMH James they said increase the steroids, UGH!!! He improved some and on Saturday he was treated to a day at the mall, but he only wanted to set around. Did not really feel like walking even. Came home and on Sunday he attended Sunday School, but was pretty tired afterwards. Fell off of our porch on Sunday evening and skinned up his arm pretty bad but we were able to care for it. Monday, the 21st, was his 70th birthday and friends came over from Franklin, WV area to visit. It was not a really good day. By Tuesday he was sort of improving but still not himself. The steroids were still upped. Wednesday brought a better time and our friends went back home. Fast forward to Friday - Tired again but took a walk up our street around 0700, as the temps were not high only 70. Came back and in the course of 1 hour he proceeded to take 2 more small walks around our circle. On the last walk he stumbled into the front door and almost passed out as I caught him. This resulted in a trip to the ED at Marietta Memorial, thanks neighbor for your assistance. They did some tests and all was good after a night in the hospital they sent him home at around 1330 All was good until around 2100 . I had been prepared to go upstairs but did not feel quite right to go read upstairs so stayed downstairs. at around 2115 he went into the bathroom and did not come back out I went to ask him if all was well and he had thrown up in the sink and proceeded to do this 5 more times in the next 10 minutes. I decided back to the ED. But I was in my PJs and so called the ambulance ALL of our town ones were out but could send one from about 12 miles I decided to just see if another neighbor would assist me and thanks LPM, WE LIVE IN THE BEST NEIGHBORHOOD AROUND. NOT that I could not have called any number of folks here in town for assistance. ANYHOW, he got to the ED just 8 hours after having been discharged. Gave several doses of anti nausea meds but no luck still not able to keep water down or 7UP. SO put in observation for 24 hours Things just turned worse and they ended up putting in in a room with 1 on 1 care meaning someone had to be in the room with him at all times. THANKS JDG and JU for your assistance in this so I could come home and sleep. I know I am giving TMI but some will ask for all the details so I am writing. Making this brief After about 30 hours of sleeping mostly due to the multiple doses of anti nausea meds he woke up and was able to eat 3 meals and keep it down. They attempted to place him in a rehab facility but he is a bit TOO mobile for this. Since we have been blessed to be able to have the Avastin infusions locally they did that today ON SCHEDULE. SO SO VERY THANKFUL for this. He's much better, thanks to loads of prayers. Will find out tomorrow if he should get some more out patient PT or go to some type of other facility. Have spoken to the folks at the JAMES and they agree with folks at MMH to keep the steroids dosage up 4 mgs 3x a day they'll decide what to do in about a week He'll come home tomorrow after an eval from hospital PT gals again.
Prayers appreciated. I am at my wits end some days knowing what I am supposed to do/allow. He is a very independent guy who has earned it with all his hard work learning to land on aircraft carriers and to be left seat on 767s It's difficult to give up the making of decisions and being responsible for them. BUT...
Our God is good and HE knows the plans he has for us and we are always wanting things to hurry up and be our way. Strength for today and bright home for tomorrow Blessing all mine with 10000 besides. GREAT IS HIS FAITHFULNESS. HE is so faithful please help me when I want my way.
Thanks again
JUDY
